As the economic powerhouse and melting pot of the African continent, Africans from across the continent have been flocking to Johannesburg ever since the discovery of gold.

In the early 1990’s, South Africa’s focus was on delivering its first democratic elections. During this time, Johannesburg’s inner city infrastructure deteriorated due to a lack of maintenance. Migrants coming from both South Africa and the rest of Africa, found their footing in the inner city suburbs of Johannesburg. Settling in suburbs like Hillbrow, Doornfontein and Yeoville.

Migrants coming from the rest of Africa brought with them tastes of home and different styles of cooking. Our African Culinary Tour focuses on the colourful and vibrant community of Yeoville. As a genuine African community, Yeoville has restaurants that cater to the African community in Yeoville. Our African Culinary will take you on a tour of West and East African cuisine, namely, Nigerian, Cameroonian and Ethiopian cuisine.
